HIRING: Site Superintendent

At Layton Services, we're a commercial, industrial, and residential excavation contractor that has been family-owned and operated in Central Ohio for nearly 30 years. Our services primarily include earthwork, site development (mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep), and underground utilities (water main, fire line, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and detention systems.) Located in Newark, Ohio with a majority of work in Columbus, Licking County, and the surrounding area.

Summary of Job Description:

Layton Services is currently seeking a Site Superintendent to join our team! This individual would be responsible for the on-site supervision and coordination for the successful completion of construction projects. Managing the foreman and the crew that is actively working on a job site while assisting the foreman with any job questions or needs. Staying ahead of their assigned projects, coordinating with the Project Manager on project-specific needs, understanding the inspection process, ensuring materials are available and correct, mobilization and demobilization in an efficient manner.

Individual will practice and enforce all OSHA rules & regulations industry-related.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
  • Stay abreast of the project from pre-construction, start-up, duration, and close-out.
  • Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency.
  • "Team Effort Mindset". Willingness and experience to be able to jump in wherever needed in the field.
  • Understand and assist the team with project billing using POC (percentage of completion) on AIA G702 and G703 standard forms.
  • Maintain safety on work sites.
  • Attend project meetings (virtual or onsite)
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Controller with project-specific on-demand needs.
  • Schedule inspections, direct the activities of the inspection agencies, and correct any deficiencies indicated by the reports.
  • Be the first point of contact for project-specific inquiries.
  • Determine project requirements and scope and coordinate the establishment and monitoring of a timeline for project completion.
  • Maintain good relations and communications with all involved in the project including the public.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Role Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of industry-related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Valid Driver's License and own transportation
  • Familiar with Civil Engineering blueprints
  • Experience with pay applications and change orders.
  • Experience with HCSS Heavyjob
  • Proven client success/relations
  • Basic computer skills (PDF, E-mail, Word documents)
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification (Can be obtained upon hire)
